In God We Trust's National Chairman Bishop Council Nedd and Director of Legislative Affairs Sean Ferritor met with Representative Walter Jones (R-NC) and his staff on Capitol Hill in May to discuss strategy for the "Pray in Jesus' Name" legislation, known as H.R. 343, introduced again this 113th Congress by Rep. Jones.
Nedd and Rep. Jones, along with staff and volunteers, prayed for guidance, strength, and wisdom in their charge to once again bring this important legislation up for debate. The Jones "Pray in Jesus' Name" bill needs to garner supporters from both parties and across the nation.
In God We Trust plans to support Rep. Jones in his efforts to secure co-sponsors, and we urge our supporters to reach out to their Member of Congress and ask them to support H.R. 343, the "Pray in Jesus' Name bill" today.
If passed into law, it would amend title 10, United States Code, to allow chaplains to "pray in Jesus' name" if they wish. The legislation has been referred to the House's Committee on Armed Services, Subcommittee on Military Personnel, where it is awaiting further action.
"I am excited about the grassroots campaign In God We Trust is conducting," said Nedd. "By signing and sending in your petition for this campaign, our supporters in every state can prove to Members of Congress, like Rep. Jones, that they have the full support of the American people behind their efforts.
