In God
We Trust hereby bestows "The Cup of Wrath" on eight members of the United States Congress who supported a congressional
resolution recognizing the Muslim holy month of Ramadan but voted against a similar resolution commemorating Christmas.
On December 11, 2007, Representatives Gary Ackerman (NY-5), Yvette Clarke (NY-11), Diana DeGette
(CO-1), Alcee Hasting (FL-23), Jim McDermott (WA-7), Bobby Scott (VA-3), Pete Starke (CA-13) and Lynn Woolsey (CA-6) voted
against House Resolution 847 which recognized the importance of Christmas in the lives of many Americans. The resolution furthermore
declared the Congress' opposition to bigotry towards and persecution of members of the Christian faith.
But opposing the recognition of Christmas and opposing the persecution of Christians was not enough for these radical eight
representatives. These same eight Congressmen, including Pete Starke, and avowed and militant atheist, had no problem supporting
a similar resolution recognizing Ramadan just weeks prior to their fateful anti-Christmas vote.
These eight Congressmen showed and utter disregard for the sensibilities of their constituents and the traditions of their
nation and instead went out of their way to use their legislative powers to single out American Christians for their scorn
and contempt.
For opposing Christmas Congressmen Ackerman, Clarke, DeGEtte, Hastings, McDermott,
Scott, Starke and Woolsey have earned themselves a full draught from the Cup of Wrath.
